The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills drama is not all diamonds and rose

For years, my go to show has been The Real Housewives.

I began watching the Real Housewives of New Jersey when I was in high school, before getting both their season and the Real Housewives of Atlanta on DVD for Christmas. It was long before streaming was even an option, and back when Teresa and Dina were two peas in a pod.

A few years back, I went through a lonely period of time, where I had nothing to do and no one to hang out with, so I began watching Real Housewives of New York. I started with season 1 and ended with present day, which has now been cancelled.

Almost a year ago, I finally tuned into the glamorous world of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

When I began watching the series so long ago, it was fun. There was drama, but it was all trivial. No one had been arrested for fraud, no one had conned people. There was an occasional throwing of a drink, but that really maxed out the “venomous” nature of the show.

Unfortunately, that is no longer the case and the show i once loved has turned into something quite different.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills originally featured Kyle Richards and her sister, Kim. They also have an older sister, who I’m sure you are familiar of, Kathy Hilton.

Kyle and Kim had numerous spats on the show, including the season one finale, where Kyle outed Kim as an alcoholic and Kim accused Kyle of “stealing her house.”

The sisters would have a tumultuous relationship throughout the series, before Kim eventually left to deal with the issues she was facing.

Since leaving the show, Kim has made a few guest appearances and seems to be doing quite well. It also seems their relationship has mended itself.

Last year, Kathy entered the show as a “friend of” Kyle and was quickly deemed a fan favorite for her lavish lifestyle and comical one-liners.

It’s difficult to say exactly where things went wrong, but this year Kyle and Kathy’s relationship is at its breaking point.

Kathy reportedly had a breakdown in Aspen, Colorado on their girl’s trip and confided in a mutual friend, Lisa Rinna, that she wanted to “take down Kyle if it was the last thing she did.”

Unfortunately, Lisa Rinna has been known to cause issues between Kyle and her siblings before and there is no clear proof Kathy said this.

During the trip, Kyle did make some jabs at Kathy, as sisters often do, but I never believed it was enough to send Kathy over the edge.

Many have asked both Kyle and Kathy, how could this happen. They’ve specifically asked Kyle how she can let Lisa Rinna say these things without having any proof and standby while it destroys her relationship with her sister.

Kyle has remained mute on the issue, just claiming she is sad, but accepts her sister apology for whatever she did or didn’t say.

It seemed as if all was well, because this is only a t.v. show after all, and no show is worth jeopardizing a relationship with your family.

I was surprised to see that all was not actually well.

On Wednesday, Kathy responded to a post asking the same question about why Kyle would let Lisa Rinna say this.

“She has not let them do it, she is behind them doing it. It’s how she has operated all along and people still aren’t seeing it. Rinna attempts to destroy her acquaintances; Kyle does the same to her own family and friends. She will do anything for money and social status… there is nothing too low for Kyle Richards,” Kathy said.

This was devastating to hear.

It was devastating because Kyle has consistently been one of my favorite housewives, but more so because Kathy turned on her sister so publicly. If Kathy really felt nothing was too low for Kyle, then I think she should’ve said that to her, instead of billions of people on Instagram. The world now knows Kathy Hilton hates her sister and believes her to be a money hungry social climber.

I don’t even want to watch anymore.

This show won’t last forever, but family is supposed to be there through everything. Once those ties are cut, it’s over.

I really want to believe Kyle and Kathy can patch things up, just as Kyle did with Kim. Now, I’m not so sure, though.

I regret Bravo (the network) let it go this far, and as a famous housewife once said, “things are not all diamonds and rose in Beverly Hills.”
