High Cotton Plein Air Paint Out returns

Published 10:33 am Wednesday, September 28, 2022

The time is fast approaching for the annual Pines & Palms High Cotton 2022 Plein Air Paint Out.

The event runs from Oct. 5-9 at various locations around the Thomasville area. Join in the fun as a spectator, painter or patron. Even for those who  aren’t an artist, there is something for all.

The first two days artists will paint spectacular red clay roads, moss-covered oaks and the beauty of the rural fields of Boston, Georgia (a farming town listed on the National Register of Historic Places, 10 miles east of Thomasville).  The next two days will be spent painting the beautiful historic streets of downtown Thomasville. The featured artists will paint along with the emerging artists at each location. What a great opportunity to meet fellow artists and make new friends.

The paint out will hold an exhibit and art sale where our artists will display and sell artworks created during the paint out. The exhibit and sale will be held from noon to 3 p.m. at Covey Nest, Saturday, Oct. 8 at 210 W. Jackson St.

This year Pines and Palms’ featured artists include Antwan Ramar, Orit Reuben, Phil Sandusky, Craig Reynolds, Mary O. Smith, Paul Ladnier and Joe Palmerio. They said they are excited and proud to have each of these renowned and professional artists join them for the event. Not only will they be painting along with Pines and Palms, but on the final day of the event (Sunday, Oct. 9), they will conduct demonstrations and instructional workshops for registered participants. These workshops cater to professional and emerging artists and focus on artistic development. Workshops are by registration only, with a deadline of Sept. 30.
