Colquitt County softball tops Thomas County Central

THOMASVILLE – Colquitt County’s softball team knocked off Thomas County Central 9-1 on Thursday, handing the Lady Yellow Jackets (2-2) their second loss of the season. The Lady Packers outhit the Lady Jackets 10-2, scored three runs in the second inning and four in the sixth to pull away for the win.

Colquitt County also benefited from four Central errors and two walks in the sixth.

Cloey O’Doniel and Gabrial Miles tallied the only hits for Central, who scored its only run in the bottom of the fourth on an O’Doniel homer.

Laney Mobley pitched five innings for Central, allowing just two earned runs and seven hits.

The loss to Colquitt County came on the heels of Central’s 18-0 win over Thomasville on Tuesday. Central scored 11 runs in the second and six in the third to put away its crosstown rival.

Sarah Stewart collected two hits, two runs and six RBIs in the leadoff spot. Omiyah Blalock and Kennedy Warren each recorded three hits. Abigail Singletary finished with two hits, three runs and three RBIs.

Miles and O’Doniel each added two RBIs.

Matti McDougald tallied the only hit for Thomasville.

Central will return to the field this weekend to play in a tournament in Crisp County. It will play against Crisp County and Pierce County.
