Hannah Joyner will teach Kindergarten and coach Middle School softball, and Sonja Harrell and Malynda Wilde will be teaching assistants.

Familiar faces and two new employees will be joining the Middle and Upper School. Cathy Cook will be in the science lab. Returning from the class of 2017, Madison Hooks will be in the Spanish department and from the class of 2018, Robin Richardson is the Advancement Assistant. Amy Taylor, most recently from Cairo, Egypt, will teach English.

Sean Landetta, Lower School music teacher, has additional roles this year. Continuing with his involvement in the all-school musical and cross country team, he will now serve as the Chair of the Performing Arts department.

Two new team members will be joining athletics. Spencer Smith can be spotted on the court and in the classroom. He will be the athletic trainer, Junior Varsity Boys’ Basketball coach, Varsity Assistant Boys’ Basketball coach, and finance teacher. Coach Nate VanDuyne is welcomed to Brookwood as the Varsity Boys’ Head Basketball coach, Assistant Athletic Director, and newest member of the Physical Education team.

“I am excited to help preserve and build upon the culture and tradition that is already present [at Brookwood],” VanDuyne said.

Additionally, Katie Thompson and Heather Powers will coach the Varsity Cheerleading team, an added role for both teachers.

Administrative additions include Mr. Bill Cook as the Upper School Director.

“The close-knit, family-like environment and welcoming atmosphere are things that initially attracted me to Brookwood and sold me on becoming a part of the Brookwood family,” says Cook.

Headmaster Randy Watts has this to say about Cook: “It is obvious that he cares about students, faculty, and will be an outstanding teammate.”

Brittany Moore, previously a JK teacher’s assistant, is shifting roles. She will now be an administrative assistant. Louis Schofill will continue his involvement with the football teams and as a history teacher as he becomes the Emergency Management Coordinator.
