Carroll’s Cabinets and Counters moved to Thomasville in December 2017 after their original cabinet shop in Cairo burned down, but they’ve recently outgrown their current rental space.

Shane Carroll, Cairo native and owner, said that he took over the business in 1996 when it was still situated in Spence area of Cairo.

“I started the business in 1996, it was my dad’s business, but I took over,” he said. “I went on my own in ’96 and been here ever since.”

Anna Carroll, Shane’s wife and main designer for the business, said that she works alongside her assistant, Kaitlyn Lashley, and with the customer to finalize the layout, budget and design of the project, before handing it over to her husband for production and installation.

“From start to finish we work with the customer, the layout, the design, functionality, making sure that the kitchen and the spaces work well for the customer and what they’re going to be doing in the space,” she said. “Some commercial work, but mostly residential and then, once we finish the layout, the design, and we sit with the customer, we pick out everything, make it beautiful, it comes to production, which then Shane takes over fully on production all through the installation.”

The owners also said that they were looking to expand the business in other ways as well, such as an online design tool to allow customers to design their own custom cabinets.

TheCustomCabinetShop.com, the home to this future design tool, will eventually be rolled out sometime after the business moves into its new home.

That, Shane Carroll said, alongside their recent addition of an online store on their business’ website, is just one of the big changes coming to their business.

“It’s gonna be a different world,” Shane Carroll said.

From design to the installation, handled by Shane Carroll and his crew of nine workers, Carroll’s Cabinets and Counters provides solid-wood custom cabinets.

According to Anna Carroll, her countertop crew in Tallahassee custom fabricates and installs the countertops they offer, from marble to granite, letting the business offer both an individualized and package approach to those seeking new projects for their homes.

And an efficient one for contractors, she added.

“Offering both cabinets and countertops in an ‘one stop shop’ helps to organize projects and keep the timeline as efficient as possible,” she said.

The new facility will be built at 105 Red Hills Blvd. in association with the Thomasville/Thomas County Payroll Development Authority.

A 12,000 sq. ft. facility with CNC computerized equipment, the new facility will include office space, a show room, and a full design center that will include cabinets, countertops, flooring and tile.

A ground breaking ceremony is scheduled for Aug. 24 with the Thomasville/Thomas County Chamber of Commerce.
