THOMASVILLE – Thomas County Central outperformed the competition in Region 1-4A last season en route to winning the region’s All Sports championship trophy for the second straight year.
Central captured the title over Monroe, Westover, Cairo, Bainbridge and Dougherty. It was quite the accomplishment, says Central athletic director Phillip Duplantis.

“Of course it’s an honor knowing that all your kids worked so hard and all the coaches,” Duplantis said. “To be able to recognized across all of the sports is amazing.”
The Yellow Jackets baseball team finished 26-9 with an undefeated 15-0 record in region play. Central’s boys soccer finished 14-5-1 with an undefeated 10-0 record in region. Central’s girls soccer team finished 12-4-2 with an 8-1 record and second-place finish in region. Central’s football team finished 5-6 with a fourth-place finish in region.
Central also won One Act Play this year with “A Piece of My Heart.”
“I also think it speaks to the diversity of the program, everywhere from One Act Play all the way to football all the way to bass fishing,” Duplantis added. “All of these things add to what Thomas County Schools, and Thomas County Central in particular, offer for the basic student.”
Central will move up to Region 1-6A this season and will compete against Houston County, Lee County, Northside-Warner Robins, Tift County and Veterans.
