THOMASVILLE – Brookwood hopes to hire its next boys basketball coach sooner rather than later. Sooner may come this month, says Brookwood Athletic Director Shane Boggs.

“Our goal is to be able to announce someone in the month of April, for sure. We need them to be able to have summer plans and that kind of stuff,” Boggs said. “Obviously, in late May and into June, it’s a really big deal these days. We’ve invested quite a bit of time already and made some progress. We hope to have someone announced certainly this month; maybe sooner than later.”

Summer workouts and tournament games are a vital part of a team’s development for the following season. It will be especially true for a new coach.

“Drew (Giudice) did such a great job at developing all levels throughout the summer,” Boggs said. “He invested in the young ones, the middle school kids and obviously did a real thorough calendar for the varsity. We’ll find somebody that has the same sort of vision and let them get it all planned out and hopefully get started in late May.”

Former coach Drew Giudice resigned earlier this spring after five seasons and 74 wins to take the head coaching position at Nolensville High School just outside of Nashville, Tennessee. The Warriors won three straight GISA Region 3-AAA championships from 2019-21.
