Thomasville Entertainment Foundation’s Family Series continues Saturday, March 26, with a unique mashup of classical prose and poetry and jazz music.

Shakespeare in Jazz: All the World’s a Song brings noted composer and musician Daniel Kelly to the Rose City in an interactive program geared for audiences of every age.

Set for 11 a.m. at Thomasville Center for the Arts, this smash hit offers an exciting and interactive way to experience the joy of Shakespeare’s most famous words performed by a powerhouse jazz vocalist and band.  Audience members will get a chance to sing along to catchy original jazz compositions set to Shakespeare’s lyrics.

“What a fantastic way to cultivate a love of all things Shakespeare,” said Laura Pike, TEF’s vice president for Marketing.

The creator of the program agreed.

“People hear ‘Shakespeare,’ and they think they won’t understand, and that’s the idea of the project… to keep it fun and interactive, to have fun with the language,” Kelly said.  “For some audience members, it’s their first experience with Shakespeare.  But this is also for those who know Shakespeare very well. And they come away from the concert with a new appreciation and singing Shakespeare’s words.”

All TEF Family Series events are free and open to the public, thanks to a grants and gifts from the Parker Poe Charitable Trust, Emily and Bill Searcy Charitable Trust, Dr. and Mrs. Douglas C. McPherson, Diane Williams Parker and other friends of TEF honoring Janice Faircloth’s 35-plus years of service to Thomasville Entertainment Foundation.

TEF prioritizes the health and safety of its patrons, performers, volunteers and support staff, sanitizing all lobby, auditorium, restroom, stage and backstage areas before each event. Disposable masks and no-touch hand sanitizing stations are made available.
