THOMASVILLE – Brookwood junior Ean Parr overwhelmed the competition at last weekend’s Georgia Athletic Coaches Association state weightlifting championship.

“I’m extremely proud of Ean and his efforts,” Brookwood coach Will Dettor said. “This is his second year competing in the state championship tournament. He placed seventh last year overall in his weight class. He put on some pounds this year in the offseason and gone quite considerably up on his bench max and his power clean max. It really paid off for him. He’s extremely competitive and did a great job performing up there in Louisville.”

Parr bulked up three weight classes following the 141-150-pound weight class he competed in last year. His work ethic helped propel him to tops in his class.

“He’s worked extremely hard. He has worked out with us and works out and is active in Cross Fit here in town. He’s really set his goals high after he finished last year to do well in both,” Dettor said. “It’s one of those things where you use it or you lose it. He’s committed, and he works out on a consistent schedule each week. He works on his different disciplines to strengthen his bench and strengthen his power clean.”

Parr’s teammate Tyler Cleveland, also a junior, finished fourth in the 141-150-pound weight class with a bench press of 220 pounds and power clean of 245 pounds.
