The United Kingdom’s top jive and swing band is headed for Thomasville, set to bring their lively program, Swingtime, to the stage as Thomasville Entertainment Foundation’s 84th concert series continues March 22.
Coming to the Rose City direct from London on their 16-city North American tour, The Jive Aces will bring their superior musicianship and dynamic personalities to the Thomasville Center for the Arts, with a concert time of 7:30 p.m.
Celebrated for energetic renditions of swing, jump jive and R&B classics, the sextet’s wide ranging song list reflects the glitz of the Rat Pack and hits from artists such as Louis Prima, Cab Calloway, Ella Fitzgerald and Bobby Darin, among many others.
“Tuesday’s performance promises to get hands clapping and toes tapping,” said TEF Executive and Artistic Director Rick Ivey. “Since catapulting to fame in 2012 as semifinalists on Britain’s Got Talent, The Jive Aces have firmly established themselves as the UK’s number one jive and swing band, and we’re looking forward to a fun, high energy performance.”
Appearing in more than 30 countries, The Jive Aces have sold out such diverse venues and events as London’s Royal Albert Hall, Cannes Film Festival, Montreux Jazz Festival and Glastonbury Festival, and their music video, “Bring Me Sunshine,” has become a viral hit with more than two million views on YouTube.
Seats are $38 for adults, $15 for students, and a limited number of free student tickets are available through TEF’s Tickets for Teens program, made possible through a grant from Thomasville Antiques Show Foundation and an anonymous gift to TEF’s Education Fund.
Box office volunteers report only a few open seats are available, and season ticket holders who are unable to attend are encouraged to call the TEF office to release their seats. A limited number of seats may be available at the door on concert night beginning at 6:30 p.m.
