No new COVID-19 cases in Thomas and Grady county schools

Thomas County Schools reported no COVID-19 positive students out of an enrollment of 5,738. The system also reported having no staff member out of 874 test positive for COVID-19.
Grady County Schools reported having no students with a positive COVID-19 test out of 4,438 total students as of March 11. One student was quarantined for possible exposure. None of the 638 school employees had a positive COVID-19 test and none were quarantined.

As of Monday, more than 22,520 Thomas County residents, 50% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the state Department of Public Health. More than 56,100 doses of vaccine have been administered to Thomas County residents, according to the state Department of Public Health. In all, 42% of Thomas County residents have received full vaccination and an additional dose.
Grady County has had more than 26,920 vaccines administered, with more than 11,060 people, 45% of the population, being fully vaccinated. According to the state DPH, 37% of Grady County residents are fully vaccinated and have received an additional dose.
The state Department of Public Health reports there have been 8,826 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 178 deaths. There also have been 618 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak.
Thomas County has recorded 25 new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH.
The state DPH has recorded 3,683 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 81 deaths and 270 hospitalizations attributed to the virus. The county has added 19 new cases in the last two weeks.
Statewide, there have been more than 1.91 million confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 30,441 deaths and more than 109,080 hospitalizations.

More than 16.9 million tests for COVID-19 have been conducted in the state, with a rate of 12.4% for positive results.

The state has issued more than 14.48 million vaccinations, and 56% of all Georgia residents, more than 5.77 million people, have been fully vaccinated.
