Virtual job fair to be held
Southwest Regional Educational Service Agency and The Grady County School System will be hosting a Virtual Job Fair Saturday, March 12 from 9-11 a.m. Certified educators as well as those with a 4-year degree who would like information about become a teacher in Georgia or alternative certification through Georgia Teacher Academy for Preparation and Pedagogy are invited to participate in this virtual training and information session. Syrup Sisters plan fundraiser
Syrup Sisters of Cairo, formerly Pilot Club, is having its annual fundraiser and currently selling tickets for a smoked pork chop dinner, prepared by Gary Jones. You can pick up the plates on March 24 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Eastside Baptist Church. Tickets are only $9 and available by contacting Joan Cooper at (904) 777-0595. No plates will be sold the day of the event without a ticket that has been purchased in advance.
Whigham FFA plans Spring Plant Sale

Residents reminded of deadline for tax exemptions
The Grady County Tax Assessors Office reminds all citizens of the April 1 deadline to sign up for Homestead Exemption, Conservation, Preferential or Forest Land Protection tax exemption status. Detailed information about each of these exemptions may be obtained by visiting the Tax Assessors office located at 114 1st Street, NE in Cairo.

Antique car rally returns in May
The Cairo-Grady County Chamber of Commerce has announced the the 34th Great Southern Antique Car Rally will be returning to Cairo May 13-14. The car rally attracts antique car enthusiasts and spectators from all of the Southeastern United States and will feature a gaslight parade, poker run and display of cars. More details will be coming soon from the chamber of commerce.
Fundraiser for Mizpah Cemetery
The Mizpah Cemetery Fund will be having its 47th Annual Pilau Benefit for the upkeep of the cemetery this Saturday, March 12 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at County Line Volunteer Fire Department. Those attending will receive a pilau plate that includes chicken & rice, slaw, pickles, bread and cake for a $5 donation. Donations can also be mailed to: Mizpah Cemetery Fund, 419 Godwin Lane, Pelham, GA 31779.
Library offers violin classes
The Roddenbery Memorial Library invites anyone who would like to learn how to play violin to join us in the library’s auditorium every Wednesday at 3:30 for a violin class for beginners. This is a free class that is sponsored by the Grady County Fine Arts.

The Roddenbery Memorial Library is seeking collections to share and put on public display with the community. If you collect items such as stamps, figurines, or other types of collectibles in categories, please contact the library if you are interesting in sharing these collections.
