Whigam hosts 2022 Rattlesnake Roundup

WHIGHAM — The Whigam Community Club hosted its 2022 Rattlesnake Roundup on Saturday, showcasing various species of reptiles and other snakes, as well as involving conservation groups and live music. 

Jason Clark, the president of Southeastern Reptile Rescue, put on three different shows at the wildlife stage set up for the Rattlesnake Roundup.

Other notable individuals, such as Heather Brasell from the Coastal Plain Chapter of Georgia Native Plant Society and Dr. Lora Smith from The Jones Center at Ichauway, were also in attendance and hosted showings at the wildlife stage. 

The event involved numerous vendors and live music provided by Just Us.

Other organizations involved in the 2022 Rattlesnake Roundup include the Georgia Forestry Commission, the Georgia Reptile Society, the Golden Triangle, RC&D, the Gopher Tortoise Council, The Rattlesnake Conservancy, Quail Forever, the University of Georgia Herpetological Society, the Center for Wildlife Education and the Lamar Q Bell, Jr. Raptor Center, the Chewhaw Park and Zoo, the Flat Creek Natives, LLC, the Georgia Department of Natural Resources – Wildlife Conservation and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources – Private Lands Program / Bobwhite Quail Initiative.
