Thomas County hits 50% mark in COVID-19 vaccinations

As of Tuesday, more than 22,120 Thomas County residents, 50% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the state Department of Public Health. More than 54,710 doses of vaccine have been administered to Thomas County residents, according to the state Department of Public Health. In all, 39% of Thomas County residents have received full vaccination and an additional dose.
Grady County has had more than 26,300 vaccines administered, with more than 10,850 people, 44% of the population, being fully vaccinated. According to the state DPH, 36% of Grady County residents are fully vaccinated and have received an additional dose.
The state Department of Public Health reports there have been 8,538 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 168 deaths. There also have been 577 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak.
Thomas County has recorded 992 new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH.
The state DPH has recorded 3,500 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 73 deaths and 257 hospitalizations attributed to the virus. The county has added 413 new cases in the last two weeks.
Statewide, there have been more than 1.84 million confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 27,655 deaths and more than 103,300 hospitalizations.
More than 15.9 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with a rate of 12.7% for positive results.
Statewide, there have been 169,885 new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks.
The state has issued more than 14.08 million vaccinations, and 54% of all Georgia residents, more than 5.65 million people, have been fully vaccinated.
