Number of COVID-19 cases climbs

As of Monday, more than 21,730 Thomas County residents, 49% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the state Department of Public Health. More than 52,480 doses of vaccine have been administered to Thomas County residents, according to the state Department of Public Health. In all, 34% of Thomas County residents have received full vaccination and an additional dose.
Grady County has had more than 25,310 vaccines administered, with more than 10,670 people, 43% of the population, being fully vaccinated. According to the state DPH, 30% of Grady County residents are fully vaccinated and have received an additional dose.

The state Department of Public Health reports there have been 6,238 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 165 deaths. There also have been 550 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak.
Thomas County has recorded 144 new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH.
The state DPH has recorded 2,534 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 68 deaths and 246 hospitalizations attributed to the virus. The county has added 91 new cases in the last two weeks.
Statewide, there have been more than 1.42 million confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 26,425 deaths and more than 94,870 hospitalizations.
More than 14 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with a rate of 10.4% for positive results.
Statewide, there have been 114,599 new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks.

The state has issued more than 13.4 million vaccinations, and 53% of all Georgia residents, more than 5.53 million people, have been fully vaccinated.
