The Snapchat post targeted two Cairo High School students and stated that a school shooting would take place.

“Because of the threat and the serious nature of the comment, we initiated a lockdown once the students had arrived at 8 a.m.,” said Dan Broome, Grady County School’s Interim superintendent.

Southside Elementary was also locked down because of its proximity to Cairo High School.

After further investigating the threat, Broome said it was determined that it was safe to reopen schools around 9:45 a.m.

Although it’s been confirmed there are no active threats, the investigation is still ongoing.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information is obtained.
