COVID-19 vaccination totals continue to grow slowly

As of Monday, more than 21,140 Thomas County residents, 47% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the state Department of Public Health. More than 46,490 doses of vaccine have been administered to Thomas County residents.

More than 23,220 people, 52% of the county’s population, have received at least one dose.

Grady County has had more than 22,230 vaccines administered, with more than 10,450 people, 42% of the population, being fully vaccinated.

The state Department of Public Health reports there have been 6,038 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 162 deaths. There also have been 529 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak. 

Thomas County has recorded 20 new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH. 

The state DPH has recorded 2,399 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 64 deaths and 235 hospitalizations attributed to the virus. The county has added 12 new cases in the last two weeks. 

Statewide, there have been more than 1.26 million confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 24,876 deaths and more than 86,410 hospitalizations.

More than 12.4 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with a rate of 10.3% for positive results. 

Statewide, there have been 12,734 new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks. 

The state has issued more than 11.32 million vaccinations, and 50% of all Georgia residents, more than 5.18 million people, have been fully vaccinated.

Thomasville City Schools reported that as of October 29, there were three COVID-19 positive students out of 2,788 enrolled.  There were 21 students identified as contacts due to school exposure, and three identified as contacts due to exposure outside of school. None out of the 376 employees were listed as COVID-19 positive. No employee was identified as contacts due to school exposure and no one was identified as contacts from outside exposure.

Thomas County Schools reported four COVID-19 positive students out of an enrollment of 5,808, a 0.1% positive rate. The system also reported not having any staff member out of 868 test positive for COVID-19.

Grady County Schools reported having five students with a positive COVID-19 test out of 4,487 total students as of October 29. Another 16 were quarantined for possible exposure. None of the 638 school employees had positive COVID-19 tests and none were quarantined.
