COVID-19 vaccination totals continue slow climb upward

As of Friday, more than 21,100 Thomas County residents, 47% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the state Department of Public Health. More than 46,340 doses of vaccine have been administered to Thomas County residents.
More than 23,200 people, 52% of the county’s population, have received at least one dose.
Grady County has had more than 22,170 vaccines administered, with more than 10,430 people, 42% of the population, being fully vaccinated.
The state Department of Public Health reports there have been 6,035 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 161 deaths. There also have been 529 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak.
Thomas County has recorded 23 new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH.
The state DPH has recorded 2,395 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 64 deaths and 235 hospitalizations attributed to the virus. The county has added 10 new cases in the last two weeks.
Statewide, there have been more than 1.26 million confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 24,786 deaths and more than 86,110 hospitalizations.
More than 12.3 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with a rate of 10.3% for positive results.
Statewide, there have been 13,404 new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks.
The state has issued more than 11.25 million vaccinations, and 50% of all Georgia residents, more than 5.17 million people, have been fully vaccinated.
