Archbold records just two new COVID-19 admissions

THOMASVILLE — Archbold officials reported Tuesday there have been 16 new COVID-19 positive test results over the last week, Over the past week, the system has had 622 new negative results. Two people were admitted to Archbold facilities in the last week for COVID-19

The system did not record a death from COVID-19 in the last week.

As of Tuesday, there were five COVID-19 positive patients at Archbold Memorial Hospital. There were two COVID-19 positive patients at Mitchell County Hospital, one at Grady General Hospital and none at Brooks County Hospital. There are no COVID-19 positive patients at Northside Center for Behavioral and Psychiatric Care.

Archbold also is reporting there are no COVID-19 positive patients at Glenn-Mor Nursing Home, Mitchell Convalescent Center or at Pelham Parkway Nursing Home.

Of the current eight COVID-19 positive patients in Archbold hospitals, seven had not received the vaccine. None of the four COVID-19 patients in critical care had received a vaccine and neither had the one patient on a ventilator.

All eligible community members are able to receive their first, second and booster shots at the Archbold vaccine clinic. The clinic is open Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Williams Auditorium at Archbold Memorial Hospital.

Archbold is providing only the Pfizer vaccine at this time.

As of Tuesday, more than 21,070 Thomas County residents, 47% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the state Department of Public Health. More than 45,910 doses of vaccine have been administered to Thomas County residents.

More than 23,160 people, 52% of the county’s population, have received at least one dose.

Grady County has had more than 21,900 vaccines administered, with more than 10,390 people, 42% of the population, being fully vaccinated.

The state Department of Public Health reports there have been 6,029 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 159 deaths. There also have been 527 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak. 

Thomas County has recorded 30 new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH. 

The state DPH has recorded 2,392 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 64 deaths and 235 hospitalizations attributed to the virus. The county has added 21 new cases in the last two weeks. 

Statewide, there have been more than 1.26 million confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 24,509 deaths and more than 85,590 hospitalizations.

More than 12.3 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with a rate of 10.4% for positive results. 

Statewide, there have been 14,471 new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks. 

The state has issued more than 11.1 million vaccinations, and 50% of all Georgia residents, more than 5.16 million people, have been fully vaccinated.
