No COVID-19 deaths recorded at Archbold in the last week

THOMASVILLE — Archbold officials reported Tuesday there have been 21 new COVID-19 positive test results over the last week, Over the past week, the system has had 627 new negative results. Six people were admitted to Archbold facilities in the last week for COVID-19

The system did not record a death from COVID-19 in the last week.

As of Tuesday, there were seven COVID-19 positive patients at Archbold Memorial Hospital. There were three COVID-19 positive patients at Mitchell County Hospital, one at Grady General Hospital and none at Brooks County Hospital. There are no COVID-19 positive patients at Northside Center for Behavioral and Psychiatric Care.

Archbold also is reporting there are no COVID-19 positive patients at Glenn-Mor Nursing Home, Mitchell Convalescent Center or at Pelham Parkway Nursing Home.

Of the current 11 COVID-19 positive patients in Archbold hospitals, nine had not received the vaccine. All five COVID-19 patients in critical care had not received a vaccine and neither of the two COVID-19 patients on ventilators had been vaccinated. 

All eligible community members are able to receive their first, second and booster shots at the Archbold vaccine clinic. The clinic is open Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Williams Auditorium at Archbold Memorial Hospital.

Also, the hospital has made changes to its visitors policy. Children 12 years and older are now allowed to visit COVID-19 negative patients  in the hospital. Those patients who are COVID-19 negative may request overnight visitors.

The state Department of Public Health reports there have been 6,013 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 157 deaths. There also have been 522 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak. 

Thomas County has recorded 47 new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH. 

The state DPH has recorded 2,388 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 64 deaths and 230 hospitalizations attributed to the virus. The county has added 44 new cases in the last two weeks. 

Statewide, there have been more than 1.25 million confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 24,053 deaths and more than 84,460 hospitalizations.

More than 12.1 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with a rate of 10.5% for positive results. 

Statewide, there have been 20,819 new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks. 

The state has issued more than 10.93 million vaccinations, and 49% of all Georgia residents, more than 5.1 million people, have been fully vaccinated.
