Thomas County inches toward 50% full COVID-19 vaccination total

As of Monday, more than 20,880 Thomas County residents, 47% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the state Department of Public Health. More than 45,340 doses of vaccine have been administered to Thomas County residents.

More than 23,050 people, 52% of the county’s population, have received at least one dose.

Grady County has had more than 21,690 vaccines administered, with more than 10,290 people, 41% of the population, being fully vaccinated.

The state Department of Public Health reports there have been 6,011 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 157 deaths. There also have been 521 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak. 

Thomas County has recorded 51 new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH. 

The state DPH has recorded 2,387 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 64 deaths and 230 hospitalizations attributed to the virus. The county has added 49 new cases in the last two weeks. 

Statewide, there have been more than 1.25 million confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 23,958 deaths and more than 84,270 hospitalizations.

More than 12.1 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with a rate of 10.5% for positive results. 

Statewide, there have been 21,718 new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks. 

The state has issued more than 10.93 million vaccinations, and 49% of all Georgia residents, more than 5.1 million people, have been fully vaccinated.
