COVID-19 vaccination totals continue to push higher

As of Friday, more than 20,570 Thomas County residents, 46% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the state Department of Public Health. More than 44,570 doses of vaccine have been administered to Thomas County residents.
More than 22,920 people, 51% of the county’s population, have received at least one dose.
Grady County has had more than 21,310 vaccines administered, with more than 10,080 people, 41% of the population, being fully vaccinated.
The state Department of Public Health reports there have been 5,983 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 155 deaths. There also have been 498 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak.
Thomas County has recorded 120 new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH.
The state DPH has recorded 2,359 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 63 deaths and 223 hospitalizations attributed to the virus. The county has added 83 new cases in the last two weeks.
Statewide, there have been more than 1.24 million confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 23,342 deaths and more than 82,560 hospitalizations.
More than 11.8 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with a rate of 10.5% for positive results.
Statewide, there have been 34,578 new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks.
The state has issued more than 10.7 million vaccinations, and 48% of all Georgia residents, more than 5 million people, have been fully vaccinated.
