CAIRO — A Pelham man is finally in police custody after almost a two-hour standoff Thursday night with Thomasville SWAT and Grady County Sheriff’s Office.
On September 13, Skeeter Eugene Weeks, 39, was taken to the hospital after having minor injuries from a motorcycle crash that happened while he was fleeing from Monroe County deputies.
Monroe deputies found about two pounds or one kilo of methamphetamine, along with a firearm, on him.
Weeks later fled the hospital to his home on McClellan Road in Grady County.
“We got the call just before 8 p.m. of a location on a wanted felon that we had warrants on also and Brooks County has warrants on him,” said Grady County Sheiff’s Office chief investigator Daniel Singletary
Thomasville/Thomas County SWAT and Thomas County Sheriff’s Office were called in for assistance as Weeks refused to surrender.
“He kept us in a standoff and wouldn’t come to the door,” Singletary said.
It wasn’t until 10:30 p.m. that police entered the home with K-9 assistance and made Weeks surrender.
Weeks is charged with possession of meth, trafficking meth, felony fleeing, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm in commission of a crime and multiple traffic violations in Monroe County.
The previous charges with Grady County include felony fleeing and probation violations.
Monroe authorities also suspect Weeks is involved with the Ghost Face Gangsters’ gang.
