Thomas County full vaccine total nears 19K

As of Friday, more than 18,820 Thomas County residents, 42% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the state Department of Public Health. More than 40,400 doses of vaccine have been administered to Thomas County residents.
Grady County has had more than 19,280 vaccines administered, with more than 8,970 people, 36% of the population, being fully vaccinated.
The state Department of Public Health reports there have been 5,491 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 136 deaths. There also have been 446 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak.
Thomas County has recorded 595 new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH.
The state DPH has recorded 2,146 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 60 deaths and 213 hospitalizations attributed to the virus. The county has added 131 new cases in the last two weeks.
Statewide, there have been more than 1.15 million confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 20,581 deaths and more than 75,920 hospitalizations.
More than 10.8 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with a rate of 10.5% for positive results.
Statewide, there have been 86,531 new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks.
The state has issued more than 10 million vaccinations, and 45% of all Georgia residents, more than 4.66 million people, have been fully vaccinated.
