TCC tops Lee County

Kaylee Barrett’s bunt in the bottom of the fifth inning became a two-run error and provided the tying and winning runs in Thomas County Central’s 5-4 win over Lee County on Wednesday.

Central trailed 4-2 before striking for three runs in the fifth.

Cloey O’Doniel was 3-for-3 and Gabrial Miles drove in two runs.

Barrett went the distance in the circle, striking out two and allowing seven hits.

Barrett struck out eight of the nine batters she faced in three perfect innings as Central blanked Westover 17-0 in a Region 1-AAAA contest.

Sarah Stewart homered and drove in three runs, SJ Whigham had two doubles and two RBIs and Omiyah Blalock also went 2-for-2 with two RBIs. Emi Hobbs had a triple and drove in two runs. 

Barrett went 2-for-3.

Central faces Dougherty in a three-game series beginning Tuesday.
