CAIRO — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said there are no new updates in the Derrick Herring investigation.

Herring, 56, was found by Cairo police officers on May 9 after they responded to a report of gunshots in the area of the 800 block of 8th Street NW.

According to a news release from the GBI. Herring had been shot and was deceased near the road.

The GBI was called in by the Cairo Police Department to assist in the investigation into Herring’s death, which is being investigated as a homicide.
