Thomas County full vaccinations nears 17K

As of Friday, more than 16,900 Thomas County residents, 38% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health. 

More than 36,940 doses of vaccine have been administered to Thomas County residents, according to the state DPH.

Grady County has had more than 17,280 vaccines administered, with more than 7,890 people, 32% of the population, being fully vaccinated.

The state Department of Public Health reports there have been 4,622 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 123 deaths. There also have been 412 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak. 

Thomas County has recorded 488 new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH. 

The state Department of Public Health has recorded 1,942 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 52 deaths and 200 hospitalizations attributed to the virus. 

The county has added 166 new cases in the last two weeks. 

Statewide, there have been more than 1 million confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 19,179 deaths and more than 70,100 hospitalizations.

More than 10 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with a rate of 9.9% for positive results. 

Statewide, there have been 66,044 new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks. 

The state has issued more than 9.3 million vaccinations, and 42% of all Georgia residents, more than 4.37 million people, have been fully vaccinated.
