THOMASVILLE, Ga.— The Thomas University women’s soccer team will open the new season with a new opponent Friday morning, hosting RV Ottawa University Arizona in non-conference action.
TU spent the past month working diligently in preseason training to prepare for its home opener, from two-a-days to scrimmages against a few teams. The Green & White boast numerous returners, including both captains in graduate defender Taylor Hults and senior midfielder/defender Emily Linscer.
Thomas will look to build off last season’s 15 total games that produced a 30-goal, 85-point season with a campaign that features at least five, nationally-ranked opponents for a fifth, consecutive year. Junior Jana Pastorek is TU’s returning scoring leader, notching five goals and three assists in the spring.
RV OUAZ (0-1) will be hungry for its first win after suffering from a 2-0 defeat Wednesday night at the hands of RV Georgia Gwinnett. The Spirit were limited to four shots in the team’s season opener, with two landing on target.
Like the Night Hawks, OUAZ had a majority of players who returned for Fall 2021, including its scoring threat Saipress Jones. The reigning Golden States Athletic Conference Player of the Year comes off a seven goal, two assist season.
Kickoff at TU Soccer Complex is slated for 11 a.m. EST. Fans can tune in to the contest by accessing tunighthawks.com or thesundigitalnetwork.com/tunighthawks
