Vaccine totals continue to nudge upward

As of Tuesday, more than 16,570 Thomas County residents, 37% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the state Department of Public Health. More than 35,730 doses of vaccine have been administered.
Grady County has had more than 16,710 vaccines administered, with more than 7,700 people, 31% of the population, being fully vaccinated.
The state Department of Public Health reports there have been 4,470 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 120 deaths. There also have been 409 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak.
Thomas County has recorded 421 new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH.
The state DPH has recorded 1,900 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 51 deaths and 199 hospitalizations attributed to the virus. The county has added 148 new cases in the last two weeks.
Statewide, there have been more than 1 million confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 19,044 deaths and more than 69,360 hospitalizations.
More than 9.9 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with a rate of 9.8% for positive results.
Statewide, there have been 58,297 new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks.
The state has issued more than 9.2 million vaccinations, and 42% of all Georgia residents, more than 4.32 million people, have been fully vaccinated.
Due to increased demand for the vaccine, Archbold is offering another opportunity for community members to receive the vaccine without an appointment. The walk-in vaccine clinic will be on August 18 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. in Williams Auditorium at Archbold Memorial Hospital. No appointment is required.

Archbold is currently administering the Pfizer vaccine to all adults and children 12 and older with a parent or guardian present.
