Thomas County COVID-19 totals top 4,000

As of Monday, more than 16,060 Thomas County residents, 36% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the state Department of Public Health. More than 33,590 doses of vaccine have been administered.
Grady County has had more than 15,530 vaccines administered, with more than 7,450 people, 30% of the population, being fully vaccinated.
The state Department of Public Health reports there have been 4,010 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 118 deaths. There also have been 390 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak.
Thomas County has recorded 194 new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH.
The state DPH has recorded 1,734 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 51 deaths and 196 hospitalizations attributed to the virus. The county has added 84 new cases in the last two weeks.
Statewide, there have been more than 936,400 confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 18,732 deaths and more than 67,140 hospitalizations.
More than 9.5 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with a rate of 9.5% for positive results.
Statewide, there have been 24,106 new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks.
The state has issued more than 8.81 million vaccinations, and 40% of all Georgia residents, more than 4.19 million people, have been fully vaccinated.
