Thomas County COVID-19 case total approaching 4,000

As of Friday, more than 16,000 Thomas County residents, 36% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the state Department of Public Health. More than 33,450 doses of vaccine have been administered.
Grady County has had more than 15,450 vaccines administered, with more than 7,430 people, 30% of the population, being fully vaccinated.
The state Department of Public Health reports there have been 3,979 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 118 deaths. There also have been 389 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak.
Thomas County has recorded 193 new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH.
The state DPH has recorded 1,726 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 51 deaths and 195 hospitalizations attributed to the virus. The county has added 86 new cases in the last two weeks.
Statewide, there have been more than 932,000 confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 18,711 deaths and more than 66,990 hospitalizations.
More than 9.4 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with a rate of 9.5% for positive results.
Statewide, there have been 21,995 new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks.
The state has issued more than 8.77 million vaccinations, and 40% of all Georgia residents, more than 4.18 million people, have been fully vaccinated.
