THOMASVILLE — The Thomas County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Pelham man after a chase revealed he was in possession of high amounts of drugs.
Thursday around 2:45p.m., deputies performed a routine traffic stop on a vehicle that was going 53 mph in a 35 mph speed zone in the Ochlocknee area.
“The deputy got the vehicle pulled over at an auto parts store in Ochlocknee and the deputy could smell marijuana emitting from the vehicle when he made contact with the driver,” said Keith Drawdy, Thomas County/Thomasville Narcotics/Vice Division assistant commander.
It wasn’t until after being asked about the marijuana smell that the driver decided to flee the scene at a continued high rate of speed.
Deputies chased the driver up to the intersection of Highway 3 and the 85 bypass. During the chase, the driver threw out several book bags that were later recovered by deputies.
The police chase came to an end when the driver ran off the road into a ditch on Highway 3, where deputies apprehended the driver.
Deputies found 20.5 ounces of marijuana and a firearm in the book bags the suspect threw out of the vehicle.
Brandon Frazier, 24, is now in custody and is charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a schedule I drug with intent to distribute, felony fleeing and eluding and a possession of a firearm in commission of a felony.
