Marketing agency looking for local actors

THOMASVILLE — A local marketing agency is looking for adult actors to become extras in commercials shot throughout the Thomasville area.
Summerhill Creative has been around since 2014 and is dedicated to producing media content for local businesses.
Jeff Lovett, founder and creative director of Summerhill Creative, said he’s experienced within the past couple months a shortage of actors to star in his commercials, which is why he announced the acting call.
“One of the problems we have is that we shoot a lot of TV commercials and a lot of online videos, and we just have difficulty over and over again finding people to be in it,” he said.
Lovett is looking for adult female and male actors to be available to shoot 60-90 minutes on weekday afternoons at locations around Thomasville.
No previous acting experience required and actors will get paid approximately $50 an hour for their time.
“We typically shoot about 10-12 TV commercials every single month and virtually all of those require some kind of extras or people in them to populate the commercial,” Lovett said.
The company’s next commercial project will require actors to pose as customers for a jewelry company.
“We’re going to shoot a series of commercials for them and we’re just looking for some fresh new people to be in it,” he said. “These are people that will play the part of customers. It’s not roles where you have to speak or do a lot of heavy acting.”
The company’s commercials air on local TV stations such as WCTV and WALB. Lovett also said sometimes commercials are aired on channels in larger metro areas such as Atlanta and Jacksonville.
“They’re typically aired in all the broadcast outlets within 50-100 miles,” he said. “Some of the stuff we produce actually is even regional or larger. We’ve shot commercials for some clients that air in very large regional areas in five or six different states at one time.”
While the film production has increased in Thomasville throughout the past few years, Lovett said filming commercials is a different experience and will offer Thomasville residents a new opportunity.
“This is an opportunity for people to get an understanding of how the process works. This is not a Hollywood movie like some of the movies that have been shot in Thomasville in the last couple of years, but it is a similar process,” he said. “We’re using professional cameras and professional lighting. In a way, we’re doing the same thing they would be doing if they’re shooting a movie, we’re just not doing it on the scale that a Hollywood movie shooting in town is.”
Lovett said there is no deadline to apply for the acting call and that he’s looking to build a growing archive of actors available to work.
“We have a lot of other clients that are always looking for people to be in different scenarios,” he said.
