COVID-19 case totals continue to climb

As of Tuesday, more than 15,720 Thomas County residents, 35% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the state Department of Public Health. More than 32,750 doses of vaccine have been administered.
Grady County has had more than 14,940 vaccines administered, with more than 7,300 people, 29% of the population, being fully vaccinated.
The state Department of Public Health reports there have been 3,829 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 117 deaths. There also have been 382 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak.
Thomas County has recorded 112 new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH.
The state DPH has recorded 1,655 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 51 deaths and 193 hospitalizations attributed to the virus. The county has added 27 new cases in the last two weeks.
Statewide, there have been more than 913,700 confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 18,632 deaths and more than 66,000 hospitalizations.
More than 9.3 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with a rate of 9.5% for positive results.
Statewide, there have been 9,316 new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks.
The state has issued more than 8.5 million vaccinations, and 40% of all Georgia residents, more than 4.1 million people, have been fully vaccinated.
