THOMASVILLE — Archbold officials reported there had been 85 new COVID-19 positive tests in the last week, with 17 hospital admissions.
The health system also recorded 560 new negative tests for COVID-19 in the last week.
As of Tuesday, there were 14 patients at Archbold Memorial Hospital with COVID-19 and one each at Mitchell County Hospital and Grady General Hospital. There were no COVID-19 positive patients at either
Brooks County Hospital or Northside Center for Behavioral and Psychiatric Care.
There also were no COVID-19 positive patients at Pelham Parkway Nursing Home, Mitchell Convalescent Center or Glenn-Mor Nursing Home.
The health system has administered 27,915 vaccines.
As the number of cases begins to rise, Archbold officials are making adjustments to the visitors policies. Beginning Thursday, July 22, visitation to COVID-19 patients is limited to one visitor for one hour per day. Each visitor will be required to wear personal protective equipment for the hour visitation. No overnight stays with the patient will be allowed.
“On June 22, our system reported zero positive COVID-19 cases within in our system,” said Archbold president and CEO Darcy Craven. “Since then, our numbers have started trending upward again. Out of the last 94 COVID-19 admissions, 89 of them had not received the COVID-19 vaccine. I’d like to remind everyone about the importance of receiving the vaccine, and how it is an important tool in helping us eliminate this virus from our community.”
COVID-19 vaccines are still available at Archbold Corporate Care Center by appointment only. Community members who have not received the vaccine may call 229.584.SHOT, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to make an appointment.
