Number of COVID-19 cases in Thomas County creeping upward

As of Friday, more than 15,390 Thomas County residents, 35% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the state Department of Public Health. More than 31,960 doses of vaccine have been administered.

Grady County has had more than 14,680 vaccines administered, with more than 7,170 people, 29% of the population, being fully vaccinated.

The state Department of Public Health reports there have been 3,742 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 116 deaths. There also have been 367 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak. 

Thomas County has recorded 58 new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH. 

The state DPH has recorded 1,632 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 51 deaths and 189 hospitalizations attributed to the virus. The county has added 11 new cases in the last two weeks. 

Statewide, there have been more than 906,000 confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 18,559 deaths and more than 65,470 hospitalizations.

More than 9.2 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with a rate of 9.6% for positive results. 

Statewide, there have been 4,837 new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks. 

The state has issued more than 8.37 million vaccinations, and 39% of all Georgia residents, more than 4 million people, have been fully vaccinated.
