Jackson found guilty of 2019 murder, two other counts

THOMASVILLE — Derylmaize Jackson, the suspect in the 2019 Feinberg Street murder, was found guilty after a three-day trial.

“We picked the jury on Monday, had the trial on Tuesday and had closed arguments this morning and the jury found him guilty on all three counts,” said Capt. Tim Watkins, Thomas County Sheriff’s Office chief investigator.

Jackson was charged with felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime for the fatal shooting of Tanzania Rashawn of Bainbridge.

On July 5 ,2019, Jackson met Rashawn at Feinberg and Lester streets to trade guns.

“In the process Mr.Jackson shot him, killed him and took off running. We chased him for six hours,” Watkins recalls.

Jackson will be sentenced on July 6. Watkins said Jackson could face a life sentence for a felony murder.
