THOMASVILLE — A local women is facing terroristic threat charges after threatening to blow up the police department and harm police.
On June 21, patrol officers responded to the Wood Valley apartment complex around 7 p.m. in reference to a disturbance.
When they arrived at the scene, they made contact with Fredreeca Cooper, who was involved in an altercation with an unknown person.
“She’s very hostile and very aggressive and was yelling very loudly in the parking lot.“ said Lt. Toby Knifer, Thomasville Police Department Criminal Investigations Division commander.
Cooper was asked to leave so peace could be restored to the area, but refused to comply with police.
“She was just basically on a tirade screaming and yelling,” Knifer said. “Officers were trying to defuse the situation and get her to calm down so they could learn exactly what was happening. She was not cooperative with the officers.”
Cooper was then placed under arrest for disorderly conduct.
While police were detaining her, Cooper proceeded to make threats that resulted in her second charge.
“She made several comments to the officers about how she was going to blow up the police department and the officers were going to die as well,“ Knifer said.
The Criminal Investigations Department reviewed videos and body cam footage from Cooper’s arrest and decided to charge her with terroristic threats, along with the original charge of disorderly conduct.
Cooper remains in police custody and could face up to one to five years in prison, depending on what charges the courts decide to sentence her.
