Thomas County COVID-19 vaccine rate hits 30%

As of Friday, more than 13,210 Thomas County residents, 30% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the state Department of Public Health. More than 27,760 doses of vaccine have been administered.

Grady County has had more than 12,950 vaccines administered, with more than 6,240 people, 25% of the population, being fully vaccinated.

The state Department of Public Health reports there have been 3,660 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 114 deaths. There also have been 363 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak. 

Thomas County has recorded 23 new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH. 

The state DPH has recorded 1,612 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 49 deaths and 187 hospitalizations attributed to the virus. The county has added 19 new cases in the last two weeks. 

Statewide, there have been more than 898,000 confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 18,282 deaths and more than 64,300 hospitalizations.

More than 8.9 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with a rate of 9.8% for positive results. 

Statewide, there have been 4,195 new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks. 

The state has issued nearly 7.8 million vaccinations, and 35% of all Georgia residents, more than 3.65 million people, have been fully vaccinated.
