Archbold sees jump in new COVID cases, hospitalizations

THOMASVILLE — Archbold officials reported Tuesday there have been 56 new COVID-19 positive test results over the last week, Over the past week, the system has had 680 new negative results. Nineteen people were admitted to Archbold hospitals in the last week for COVID-19. The system did not record a death from COVID-19 in the last week.
As of Tuesday, there were 14 COVID-19 positive patients at Archbold Memorial Hospital, and none at Grady General Hospital or Brooks County Hospital and one at Mitchell County Hospital. There are no COVID-19 positive patients at Northside Center for Behavioral and Psychiatric Care.
Archbold also is reporting there are no COVID positive patients at Glenn-Mor Nursing Home, Mitchell Convalescent Center or Pelham Parkway Nursing Home.
The system also has administered 26,177 COVID-19 vaccine doses as of Tuesday.
As of Tuesday, more than 11,740 Thomas County residents, 26% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the state Department of Public Health. More than 25,000 doses of vaccine have been administered.
Grady County has had more than 11,580 vaccines administered, with more than 5,440 people, 22% of the population, being fully vaccinated.
The state Department of Public Health reports there have been 3,593 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 113 deaths. There also have been 352 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak.
Thomas County has recorded 55 new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH.
The state DPH has recorded 1,565 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 47 deaths and 176 hospitalizations attributed to the virus. The county has added 32 new cases in the last two weeks.
Statewide, there have been more than 887,400 confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 17,722 deaths and more than 62,300 hospitalizations.
More than 8.5 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with a rate of 10.1% for positive results.
Statewide, there have been 11,098 new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks.
The state has issued more than 6.6 million vaccinations, and 29% of all Georgia residents, nearly 3 million people, have been fully vaccinated.
