COVID-19 vaccinations, cases still rising in Thomas County

As of Friday, more than 13,550 Thomas County residents, 26% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the state Department of Public Health. More than 24,8000 doses of vaccine have been administered.
Grady County has had more than 11,440 vaccines administered, with more than 5,360 people, 22% of the population, being fully vaccinated.
The state Department of Public Health reports there have been 3,576 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 113 deaths. There also have been 349 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak.
Thomas County has recorded 44 new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH.
The state DPH has recorded 1,559 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 47 deaths and 176 hospitalizations attributed to the virus. The county has added 33 new cases in the last two weeks.
Statewide, there have been more than 885,000 confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 17,675 deaths and more than 62,100 hospitalizations.
More than 8.4 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with a rate of 10.2% for positive results.
Statewide, there have been 12,001 new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks.
The state has issued more than 6.4 million vaccinations, and 28% of all Georgia residents have been fully vaccinated.
