Local vaccinations continue to inch upward

As of Monday, more than 11,220 Thomas County residents, 25% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the state Department of Public Health. More than 24,300 doses of vaccine have been administered.

Grady County has had more than 11,100 vaccines administered, with more than 5,160 people, 21% of the population, being fully vaccinated.

The state Department of Public Health reports there have been 3,554 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 113 deaths. There also have been 347 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak. 

Thomas County has recorded 29 new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH. 

The state DPH has recorded 1,546 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 47 deaths and 174 hospitalizations attributed to the virus. The county has added 25 new cases in the last two weeks. 

Statewide, there have been more than 882,800 confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 17,593 deaths and more than 61,700 hospitalizations.

More than 8.3 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with a rate of 10.2% for positive results. 

Statewide, there have been 12,954 new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks. 

The state has issued more than 6.2 million vaccinations, and 26% of all Georgia residents have been fully vaccinated.
