Thomas County vaccine total surpasses 21K

As of Monday, more than 9,880 Thomas County residents, 22% of the population, have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the state Department of Public Health. More than 21,140 doses of vaccine have been administered.

Grady County has had more than 9,440 vaccines administered, with more than 4,470 people, 18% of the population, being fully vaccinated.

The state Department of Public Health reports there have been 3,534 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 113 deaths. There also have been 347 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak. 

Thomas County has recorded 28 new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH. 

The state DPH has recorded 1,531 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 46 deaths and 173 hospitalizations attributed to the virus. The county has added 23 new cases in the last two weeks. 

Statewide, there have been more than 875,400 confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 17,387 deaths and more than 61,000 hospitalizations.

More than 8.2 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with a rate of 10.3% for positive results. 

Statewide, there have been 13,830 new COVID-19 cases in the last two weeks. 

The state has issued more than 5.8 million vaccinations, and 23% of all Georgia residents have been fully vaccinated.
