Bulldogs take two from Berrien

THOMASVILLE — The Thomasville Bullldogs baseball team ran its win streak to six straight with a doubleheader sweep of Berrien on Friday.

The Bulldogs outslugged the Rebels 10-8 in the opener and took the nightcap 5-2 to go to 11-6 on the season.

The Bulldogs scored seven runs in the bottom of the second inning of the first game to take control, before the Rebels staged a late rally.

Gabe Duncan was 3-for-4 with a double and drove in three runs. Witt Wetherington was 2-for-3 with a double, Jack Thompson went 2-for-3 and Colby Aquino was 2-for-4. Ryan Renfroe added a double. 

The Rebels scored six runs in the seventh and had the tying run at the plate with one out.

Berrien held the Bulldogs to five hits in the second game but one of them was Jace Lowe’s solo shot. 

Duncan went for 2-for-2 and Isaac Richardson added a run-scoring double.

Ben Rawlings and Jadon Lirette combined to strike out 10 Rebels and allow just one walk and six hits.
