Archbold tops 16,000 in vaccines administered

THOMASVILLE — Archbold officials reported Tuesday there have been 40 new COVID-19 positive test results over the last week, Over the past week, the system has had 661 new negative results. Five people have been admitted to Archbold hospitals in the last week for COVID-19. The system recorded one death from COVID-19 in the last week.

As of Tuesday, there were two COVID-19 positive patients at Archbold Memorial Hospital, one at Grady General Hospital, and none at Mitchell County Hospital or Brooks County Hospital. There are no COVID-19 positive patients at Northside Center for Behavioral and Psychiatric Care.

Archbold also is reporting there are no COVID positive patients at Glenn-Mor Nursing Home, Mitchell Convalescent Center or Pelham Parkway Nursing Home. 

The system also has administered 16,605 COVID-19 vaccine doses as of Tuesday.

The Georgia Department of Public Health reports there have been 3,433 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 106 deaths. There also have been 337 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak. 

Thomas County has recorded 79 new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH. 

The state DPH has recorded 1,482 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 43 deaths and 170 hospitalizations attributed to the virus. The county has added 26 new cases in the last two weeks. 

Statewide, there have been more than 821,000 confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 15,209 deaths and more than 56,200 hospitalizations.

More than 7.2 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with a rate of 11% for positive results. 

The state has issued more than 2 million vaccinations. As of Tuesday, there had been nearly 21,900 vaccines had been administered in Thomas County. Grady County has had more than 3,200 vaccines administered.
