THOMASVILLE — Dr. Daryl Crenshaw could comfortably wear the moniker “physician’s physician,” according to an Archbold Medical Center doctor.
Crenshaw will assume duties as Archbold Medical Center chief of staff on March 1.
“(Dr.) Crenshaw is one of those individuals who truly deserves the moniker ‘a physician’s physician,’ ” said Dr. Ed Hall. “His dedication to his patients and to this institution should be an example for all of us. We should all strive to his level of care, expertise and participation.”
Crenshaw, a nephrologist, joined Dr. Merrill Hicks in a Thomasville nephrology practice in 2007. Hicks helped recruit Crenshaw and has worked with him for more than a decade.
Hicks described Crenshaw as viewing life through “a Biblical prism.”
“It’s an honor to work with Daryl and appreciate his gifts,” Hicks said, “particularly his fascination with the science of medicine and his ability to work with and consider all those around him. I’m particularly happy that he was elected chief of staff during the first year of CEO (Darcy) Craven. This portends good things for all of us in the medical community.”
Crenshaw’s new position is a three-year term that includes membership on the Archbold Medical Center Board and the Archbold Hospital Medical Executive Committee.
A chief of staff nomination is made by three former chiefs of staff. The nomination is submitted to the Archbold medical staff. At the annual medical staff meeting, the nominee is voted on. Crenshaw was the sole nominee.
Craven, Archbold president and chief executive officer, said he could not be more excited about Crenshaw’s upcoming chief of staff status.
“(Dr.) Crenshaw has been on medical staff at Archbold since 2007, and is well-known for his selflessness and commitment to providing high-quality patient care,” Craven said. “Archbold’s long-standing legacy of high quality and innovation will be enhanced with Crenshaw as chief of staff. I am truly looking forward to working alongside him as we strive to continually improve our service to this community.”
Dr. Coy Irvin pointed out Thomasville’s and Archbold’s long history of great physician leaders. Crenshaw follows the tradition, he said.
“He is a caring physician and an active leader among the medical staff of John D. Archbold,” Irvin said. “His concern for his patients, his desire to have the best care possible and his commitment to quality have all contributed to his being elected our new chief of staff.”
The physician said Crenshaw’s work in the community outside the hospital helps Crenshaw and Archbold serve patients better.
“We are fortunate to have such a great person and physician on our medical staff,” Irvin said.
