Archbold system admits 74 COVID patients in last week

THOMASVILLE — Archbold officials reported Tuesday there have been 220 new COVID-19 positive test results over the last week, Over the past week, the system has had 797 new negative results. Seventy-four people have been admitted to Archbold hospitals in the last week for COVID-19. The system recorded 10 deaths from COVID-19 in the last week.

As of Tuesday, there were 47 COVID-19 positive patients at Archbold Memorial Hospital, 12 at Grady General Hospital, four at Mitchell County Hospital and none at Brooks County Hospital. There are no COVID-19 positive patients at Northside Center for Behavioral and Psychiatric Care.

Archbold also is reporting there are no COVID positive patients at Glenn-Mor Nursing Home or Pelham Parkway Nursing Home. There is one COVID-19 positive patient at Mitchell Convalescent Center.

COVID-19 testing is available at Archbold’s site on Pinetree Boulevard. You must have a physician’s order to be tested at that site. To schedule a testing appointment with the Health Department, call (229) 352-6567 or visit covid-19.dph.ga.gov.

Archbold is offering COVID-19 vaccines individuals over age 65 by appointment. To schedule an appointment, call the Archbold vaccine call center Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at (229) 584-7468 or request an appointment through www.archbold.org.

The Georgia Department of Public Health reports there have been 2,758 COVID-19 positive tests in Thomas County, with 84 deaths. There also have been 244 people hospitalized because of the novel coronavirus since the inception of the outbreak. 

Thomas County has recorded 481 new cases in the last two weeks, according to the state DPH.

The state DPH has recorded 1,261 COVID-19 cases in Grady County, with 32 deaths attributed to the virus.

Statewide, there have been more than 648,000 confirmed positive tests for COVID-19, leading to 10,444 deaths and more than 45,100 hospitalizations.

More than 5.7 million people have been tested for COVID-19 in the state, with a rate of 10.7% for positive results.
