Baker leads Thomasville contingent on all-region team

THOMASVILLE — The Thomasville Bulldogs placed more than a dozen players on the all-Region 1-AA football team, announced Wednesday by region coaches.
“I’m very proud of the way our all-region players performed throughout the entire season,” Thomasville coach Zach Grage said. “Although it is recognition for the opposing coaches for on-field performance, all of these young men represented this program and the Diamond T off the field in ways that would make their community proud.”
Senior quarterback Ronnie Baker was named the region offensive player of the year after completing 191 of 312 passes for 2,113 yards and 22 touchdowns. Baker also ran for 768 yards and 12 TDs.
Thomasville’s first-team all-region selections included junior offensive lineman Jacob Tyson and senior tackle Jackson Hodge. Sophomore running back Ricky Fulton was named to the first team after amassing 730 yards rushing and 13 TDs.
Senior wide receivers Ricardo Johnson and Taraje Felton were named to the first team. Johnson led the team in receptions (53), receiving yards (632) and touchdown receptions (4). Felton had 221 yards and three scores on 19 catches.
Mason Beckham, who had 11 catches and two scores, was named as the first-team fullback.
Five Bulldogs were named to the first-team defense. Junior linebacker Ty Anderson repeated his all-region first team honors after compiling 127 tackles this season.
Senior defensive end Kevin Andrews was named to the first team after compiling 64 tackles and 6.5 sacks. Senior linebacker Dimitrius Myrick was named to the first team after posting 93 tackles, 3.5 sacks and 4.5 sacks. Junior linebacker Tyrun’Dai Hayes joined Myrick on the first team, recording 94 tackles.
Junior cornerback Joe Williams had three interceptions and five passes defensed to go with 58 tackles, and sophomore safety Evan Wynn had four interceptions and four passes defensed, along with 44 stops.
Junior punter Austin Chastain was named the first-team punter, averaging 36.4 yards per punt and placing 12 inside the 20-yard line.
Sophomore offensive lineman Caden Shokat was named to the second team offense.
Fitzgerald’s Tucker Pruitt was named coach of the year, and senior Chance Gamble was named region player of the year. Fitzgerald senior Daquavion Harper and Early County senior Jay Ealey were named co-defensive players of the year. Early County senior Ladarius Caesar was chosen as the special teams player of the year, and Worth County senior Tayshawn Shipp was named athlete of the year.
