THOMASVILLE — A number of individuals have been appointed to City of Thomasville boards, commissions and authorities.

Council members approved a resolution to appoint:

• Airport Advisory Board — Wilson Carraway, Marty Willis, Hal Jackson

• Architectural Review & Zoning Appeals Board — Janet Liles, Mark Parker

• Building Contractors Examining Board — Jeffrey Christian

• Destination Thomasville Tourism Authority — Melvin Hugans, Anne McCudden

• Historic Preservation Commission Board — Alice Fink, Robert Jones, John Hand

• Housing Authority — Adrian Burns

• Thomasville-Thomas County Land Bank Authority — Mayor Greg Hobbs

• Main Street Advisory Board — Heather Abbott, Cynthia Drayton, Pam Hoveland, Tripp Brock

• Planning and Zoning Commission — Kevin Glass, Micah Graham

• Southwest Georgia Regional Commission — Council member Wanda Warren

• Thomasville/Thomas County Recreation Advisory Board — Octavian Jordan

• Tree and Landscape Board— Brian Kelly, Pam Wright, Wes Smith, Devona Thompson

“The council came together and filled spots after discussions amongst themselves, as well as staff, to put together the board appointments,” City Manager Alan Carson said. “Some boards have requirements such as, you have to be a contractor or own a business in downtown, to be on a specific board.” 

Terms of some people now serving on the boards will expire at the end of the year.

Council member Warren said she is impressed with the diversity on the boards.

Council member David Hufstetler pointed out that board members volunteer their services.
