THOMASVILLE – Thanksgiving is an annual holiday when people gather to appreciate life’s blessings. Thomas County Central High School Cool 2 Be Kind Club adapted this idea to figuratively grow a “Beleaf in Kindness” tree on the bulletin board outside B Hall.
Club sponsors Mary Guy and Cindy Beethe believe the tree is a great way to get TCCHS actively involved in promoting kindness during the holiday season, especially at the end of a year that has been anything but the norm.
“The Beleaf in Kindness bulletin board is about spreading kindness through our words by showing others that we are grateful, thankful, and appreciative of the kind acts that they have shown towards each of us,” she said. “Hopefully, these messages will lighten the load that each of us carries by putting a smile on our faces and kindness in our hearts.”
Students, faculty and staff helped the tree sprout leaves by submitting kind messages about one another.
“Students are sending messages to each other, themselves, as well as teachers and administrators,” Guy said. “Teachers and admins are sending messages to students, other teachers, and admin as well.”
Student James Ramsey said he was glad to send a note of thanks because he appreciates his teachers helping him so much and showing they care.
Beethe remarked it was fun to see students and teachers react to the messages upon the tree’s leaves.
“I heard many students and teachers comment on how it made them feel to see a thank you leaf for them,” she said.
The tree grew approximately 233 leaves upon its branches.
“It is a breath of fresh air to see people share moments of thanks and taking the time to remember the kind acts of each other,” Guy said. “It reminds us that every one of us has something to be thankful for during this holiday season!”
